We've made a big improvement to our prints that I'm excited about, and the best part is, you won't be paying a penny more!
Instead of two double sided prints, we will be presenting our sets in four, single sided pieces. This will allow you to display all of the images contained in each set.
Here is why we did it…
When we first envisioned the project, it was simply going to be a complete restoration of the illustrations. At some point, we thought it would be fun to include production notes for each print, telling you a little about each piece and what we needed to do to restore it. That evolved into this blog, but we still wanted to show you the beauty of the original unaltered artwork, and that's when we decided to do a two-sided print.
We chose the stock that we wanted for the project, but we were unhappy with the opacity of the paper. Although nowhere near transparent, there was no way to avoid having the printing on the reverse side of the print show through and possibly interfering with the images. Granted, the printing on the back side was almost undetectable, but almost isn't what we want… we want the best.
We had a few options…
1) Choose a thick, completely opaque cover stock. The problem with that was shipping and storage. The thick cover stock creases when rolled, so standard print shipping in a tube was out of the question. So we looked into shipping the prints flat instead of rolled. No dice. The shipping costs would easily double, putting us well beyond the range that I feel people would be willing to pay.
2) We could choose a specialty paper that was high quality, completely opaque and able to be rolled and placed in a mailing tube. That was cost prohibitive. We would need to increase the price of the prints and one of our goals has been to keep the price point as low as possible, so we opted for the easiest, obvious option...
We decided that the best course of action is to change our format from double sided, to single sided. Now when you order, you will receive a total of four prints. All are printed on the same, high quality stock, but you will now be able to display all the images simultaneously with absolutely no bleed through from the two sided prints.
To help celebrate this exciting change, we've decided to extend our pre-sale of 40% off until our release date, January 27, 2015.
